yesterday at VAG ordered a new rope pull system because everything has rusted through with me. The problem for the 92er you allegedly only had the "complete Seystem" with engine, for limp 220€ ! For the 93er there was the "subsystem" for 80€ again. I don't know anything about a year-of-year change, at least I've never read about parts sales, door for a 92 or 94 etc. Right?!
I have now at my own risk bought the 93 system and hope it fits, but an info before I screw it up again would be good..
