Engine overhaul vs. Exchange machine

I am facing the decision to undergo a complete revision of my old engine or to install a used replacement machine. After strong sludge formation due to leaky cylinder head seal obviously damaged the bearings - there were chips in the oil tank! Oil channels are partially dense (slamm). At least one head seal is definitely leaking.
I have a cheap used replacement motor on my hand. Now you never know how it really stands around the ATM inside. On the other hand, I have no experience with "renewed" engines - a favorable offer is available to me. The price difference between the two variants is lower than the cost of 1xInstallation (revision is the slightly more expensive variant). The revision includes the replacement of all wear parts, purging, planning, honing, storing, resealing, if necessary. Head exchange, etc.
Who has experience with engine revisions or. Overtaken 4.2l aggregates?
Are you known providers regarding. Engine revision? What are their references?
Was meint Ihr?
Thank you for your tips!
