A8 doesn't run - never to the friendly...

Hello.

About 3 weeks ago, my fat guy (4.2) had left me in the sting. I didn't want to start. Thought it would be due to the subsequently installed alarm system, as it happened exactly afterwards. After the fault memory of all the ECUs didn't spit out, I was desperate. Had almost disassembled the Audi, checked all the control units, plug connections, etc. All fuses were OK, too. Fuel arrived, spark plugs and sparks were IO, but dry.

I didn't know any more, so I asked a car master of the local "friendly" to take a look at it. But he didn't know what to do. So by tow truck to the friendly one.

They found out he wouldn't get gas. Funny, my check still got gas. So, new fuel pump ordered for almost 600 euros -> installed - starts up, but dies again, after that he did not want any more. The service technician was baffled.
According to Master, the tank is now defective, supposedly the propulsion jet pump. Price of a new tank, 920 Euro without installation!!!

I didn't realize that, though, got me a used tank for 150 euros. I didn't accept the gas pump because it didn't start again. Since there was the actual pump individually, which I found out only afterwards, I ordered it immediately. After the repair guide was installed, I had not changed the tank, however, because I could not imagine that the drive steel pump is defective, since there is no such one. The A8 tanks operate according to the "driving-through principle" with the help of "tribe jet nozzles" via the pressure of the petrol pump.

Gas pump in - A8 is running again.

The whole thing had cost me exactly 150 euros plus the tank I have now lying around with me.

So someone needs a tank <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt=" /> I have one!

With the friendly I would have got rid of almost 3000 euros.

I will probably give the master/service technician at the friendly one a German reading course for Christmas. Because the gasoline pump is not easy to install, but according to Rep guide no problem.

That was my last visit to the local friend.
My report should only serve for information, not always to drive or drag to the friendly <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt=" />

MfG Chris

...diese Audi/VW - Meister. Echt traurig.
