A colleague of mine is buying a 99 A8 4.2. Now the car has a problem with the Tiptronic.
In normal operation, the machine switches normally without any problems. As soon as the selector lever is set to Tiptronic, the machine no longer switches. The switch has already been changed, but still does not work.
(However, the switch would have been indicated in the diagnosis)
What could that be? Gear control unit?
I can't give any further information, as the seller wants to sell the car like this without just doing a little more about it (the whole center console is dismantled)

Also es kann vieles sein.... Wenn die Schaltkulisse es nicht ist kann es das Getriebesteuergerät sein als auch der Verbindungsstecker unten am Getriebe. Messbar ist es mit VAG-Com das Getr.Stg anwählen und die Tiptronic anzeigen lassen (Ganganzeige), wenn im Stand beim Durchschalten die einzelnen Stufen angezeigt werden ( P N D 4 3 2) dann kann man während der Fahrt im Tiptronic Modus die Up / Down Betätigung sehen.... kommt hier nichts an kann es auch ein Kabelbruch sein...... wahrscheinlicher ist allerdings das Stg.
Auf jeden Fall ist das ein riskanter Kauf, denn es wäre auch ein Getriebeschaden möglich.
