Mixing oils and VW standards

Hello, everybody.

I've been driving Castrol TXT 5W30 for years (today this should have been renamed SLX) into the two Audi. I have now received a cheap offer to get a 5W40 mobile brand oil (Special X).

Can one mix both vicsosities without hesitation or is it rather discouraged?

Basically all oils I "observed" meet the VW standards 502.00 and 505.00! Can you explain this to someone with these standards a little bit? Can I basically use all oils with these standards? Unfortunately, this can not be read out quite so perfectly in the operating instructions!
