Hello.
after several years of wonderful trouble-free driving with my 4.2 A8 Bj95 I had to leave it today unfortunately. It only clicked in the starter, although the battery is full of juice. ==References== For three weeks I heard a spark in the engine compartment turning around the key for the start process, as if holding the two poles of the battery together. But he jumped well and everything was as usual. The next three weeks were also nothing striking. The day before yesterday, I wanted to get home from work and when I started, only the starter clicked, although I was about 2 hours before driving. After a few clicks and spin the ignition key he started out normally and I could go home. Yesterday everything was ok, today I can turn the key as often as I want, it just clicks.
My thought now, either the mass cable from the engine compartment to the body or the contact weak on the starter has been and he has struck a bridge during the bang, which now also fails (oxidized) and it does not flow enough juice through the starter....... my question would be, where exactly is the mass cable on my model? Unfortunately, he is quite snowed in at my driveway and I hope with your answers that I don't have to look for long after and immediately clear the right side freely and open up.
Would be great if you could help me.
greetings
Carsten :)
