Switch infrared receivers?

Hello forum community,
I need your advice again.
I've been putting another V8 with my fat guys since yesterday.
However, the good piece has the following problem:
The lock on the driver's side is defective and the original infrared unit only works on the side of the driver. At first, nothing went on, now I've put in new batteries, now at least on the passenger side. However, this brings little consolation, as I have to run to the passenger side anyway to unlock the car.
Now the question: can I change the receivers left and right? So I could at least open the car on the driver's side and then still buy a receiver for it, if it is defective.
