I already sent this question to Fabian via PM, but actually it's better to save it here, maybe later on another one of them - or one of euc already gained experience with it.
I have to buy an A8 BJ 99 4,2l, which is offered with "laughing" 104000km. The seller seems basically trustworthy, but the devil never sleeps when it comes to such information.
The service book ends in 2007 at 75000km, i.e. ==References== a. until now. If it's really the third vehicle, that could be true.
Bastian has looked at the vehicle and thinks that it basically looks like the declared mileage.
BUT...
the A8 has preheater, ex factory, in the menu however the entries for it are not to be found. Lt. a manual on the web: http://elsaweb.spaghetticoder.org/doc/A.de-EN.4D-ZS-ZS/20874942/2 the menu items must be activated only when they are missing. The following questions arise:
* Why can they be missing? New AI? AI reset? etc...
* is the KM stand stored in AI and could it be that it was manipulated?
* if yes, the KM stand is ev. traceable somewhere additionally stored? Motor-tg, gear-tg or dgl? I.e. I can drive to Audi and ev. Is there a change in this? Or read it yourself?
I'm more likely to tap on swapped AI as it's. Bastian in top condition is (luminosity of LCD, etc..), but as already said - only for safety...
