"...... detailed tests in the development departments of VW and Audi have shown:
LASER PLATINUM spark plugs with double-platinum electrodes are superior spark plug technology, they guarantee highest performance in all driving areas - even under the most extreme conditions.
LASER PLATINUM spark plugs are used as standard for all new TURBO engines for the upper vehicle categories as well as for the newly developed 1.0-l and 1.4-l engines for Polo and Lupo.
Important for all Volkswagen and Audi owners who want to benefit from the latest spark plug technology: LASER PLATINUM spark plugs have been approved for a large number of older engines on the factory side due to their excellent performance.
The technical features of LASER PLATINUM spark plugs include the use of wear-resistant double-platinum electrodes.
Platinum is a particularly resistant, erosion-resistant material with a high melting temperature (1769°C). The platinum is applied to the carrier material by means of a highly specialized, patented laser welding process. The highest quality is realized with this manufacturing process. The low wear of platinum allows the design of very filigree electrodes.
The new technology of the LASER PLATINUM spark plugs offers Volkswagen and Audi drivers a number of tangible advantages.
Powerful acceleration, high elasticity and good rotation The vehicle gains agility and reacts light-footed and spontaneous to any accelerator movement.
In addition to the filigree platinum electrodes, the special ceramic of the spark plug insulator contributes to optimal function. It is also used for Formula 1 high-performance spark plugs and guarantees maximum thermal load capacity.
Safe ignition - better catalyst protection Filigree double-platinum electrodes enable the reduction of the ignition voltage requirement. Too high ignition voltage demand easily leads to spark overlay at the wrong place, e.g. from the ignition cable or plug to ground. Ignition oscillations lead to truncations and unburned petrol enters the catalyst and can cause damage. A reduced ignition voltage requirement however prevents ignition oscillation and protects the cat.
Better combustion and fuel utilization
The filigree electrodes reduce the so-called quenching effect, which can lead to extinguishing the flame on the cold electrodes. The reduction results in more stable flame nuclei formation and faster flame propagation. Both contribute to better combustion and thus better fuel utilization.
Better idle
Due to the reduced ignition voltage requirement, a larger electrode distance can be adjusted. This achieves improved idle quality and a more stable combustion overall.
Reduced Pollutants
The double-platinum technology allows individually adapted spark layers in the combustion chamber for each application. The spark position is directly related to the torque of the engine and the pollutants in the exhaust gas. The optimum placement in the combustion chamber reduces pollutants.
Compact range
LASER PLATINUM spark plugs are multi-range spark plugs. Several heat values of conventional spark plugs are covered.
Important for the workshop: The range consists of only 3 types. ...................."

Hi Trixi,
