Strange coles in the middle differential

Hello dear V8'ler...

On one of my V8 (3.6l, Jg. 90, gearbox with approx. 200'000km) I have had an increasingly frequent phenomenon for quite some time: when I start up, and when I drive slowly on slippery ground (the latter has been enough here lately...) there is a rather loud, metallic scratching noise in the gearbox. When driving normally, especially at normal driving speeds, the noise (at least so far) never occurs.

I now suspect that the automatic middle differential barrier, which intervenes exactly in the situations described above, is the cause of the noise. Does anyone know the problem, or something like that? Is that part in the gearbox or is it somewhere outside? An old gearbox where it blew up with the torque converters, I could use as spare parts warehouse if necessary... if it should be :-(

Anyone know advice?

Thank you and greetings

Hi,

Gruss
